Ibex and Lynx
Senior Camp (11/12 – 15 Year Olds)

Say hello to Senior Camp where campers are exposed to many new activities and opportunities which offer a great sense of accomplishment. With fresh challenges and excursions for our older campers, they will uncover a greater understanding of themselves by focusing on gaining skills and independence that will improve self-esteem and help develop an ‘if I can do this, I can do anything’ attitude. Enhance your child's summer break, and sign up for senior camp this summer!

Leadership Training Program
(16 – 17 Year Olds)

The Leaders in Training (LIT) program, designed for ages 16 to 17, offers hands-on seminars to learn about leadership styles, childcare, emotional intelligence and public speaking. Not only embarking on a personal journey, our LIT’s take on leadership roles to support younger campers. LIT’s gain practical work experience in planning and executing children's programs, whilst never missing out on the amazing summer camp experience by participating in language lessons, interest groups and cultural excursions with all their friends. These campers are trained and supported to become future counsellors and staff members, continuing the legacy of the Lovell Camps’ family. They practise being positive role models to the younger campers (who absolutely adore them!). Help your young adult take the next step in their journey toward maturity by enrolling them in our LIT program!

Kids Club
(2 – 5 Year Olds)

Lovell Camps offers the Kids Club program for children aged 2 to 5 that has been designed in an engaging Montessori-style with an emphasis on learning English. We encourage outdoor experiences where learning extends beyond the classroom, embracing self-directed play and the outdoors' enriching potential. During the summer months this can include walks, visits to local playgrounds, farms, and time at indoor or outdoor swimming pools.

Location

Our Space

The Lovell Mountain Lodge

Lovell Camps is based at the Mountain Lodge – a modern, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped facility located in a rural area above the village of Schönried, which is a perfect setting for a summer camp in Switzerland. The camp has one of the most picturesque locations in the Saanenland and is close to the world- famous resort of Gstaad with it’s first-class hotels, restaurants, shopping, sports facilities and events.

Discovery and Learning

Environmental Education

Using the beautiful Alpine surroundings, participants will be able to appreciate the nature around them whilst learning about the environment.

We have found that children love learning when it's fun and experiential, which is at the core of our outdoor education programs. We believe in opening minds to a global, empathetic view of our planet through participation in outdoor living activities and sports including cooking on an open fire, orientation skills on mountain trails and bushcraft.

Cultural Trips

As an international camp we welcome families from around the world to the beautiful area of Gstaad, Switzerland. We share local historical and cultural sites with our campers on exciting days out.

Each week we have two ‘excursion’ days where our campers will travel to a new location in their camper age groups. Often these are the times campers get the most excited about!

Past highlights include the Montreux Jazz Festival, Olympic Museum Vevey, Neuchatel Wake Park, City of Bern, City of Thun, Servignon Zoo, Schilthorn Thrill Walk, Stubbach Falls Interlaken, Lauterbrunen Valley, Ballenberg Museum, Chateux d’Oex Hot Air Balloon Festival, and many more!  Excited to see what next summer will bring? Apply now!

Sports and Interests Groups

During the school year children can be under immense pressure to succeed and advance academically. Summer camp complements our children’s educational journey by providing a safe space and a choice of pursuits.

Several times a week, all campers have the opportunity to decide what their afternoon activities will be from a wide range of choices - a chance to get away from the structure of the academic year.  Campers feel empowered and listened to when they get to make decisions on their summer activities.

Counsellors

Our counsellors are full of smiles and energy, delivering weekly programs, excursions and activities that are  exciting and fun.

Part of what makes Lovell Camps so spectacular is our staff! We hire people based upon their experience, qualifications and of course their character.

These individuals travel from all corners of the globe for the opportunity to work at Lovell Camps. Out of numerous applicants each season, only the best are hired to be a part of our program.

We are so appreciative of the Lovell Camps’ counsellors who all become part of the Lovell Camps’ family.

Our talented counsellors supply a variety of sign-up activities we call ‘interest groups’. Campers from all age groups can be enrolled in two sessions that last 1.5 hours each on our ‘regular days’ - see program documents for more details.

Activities run by Lovell Camps include sports, arts and crafts, outdoor survival skills, music, theatre, climbing, archery, cooking and baking, dance, and many more.

Camper Information

Summer Campers

Every summer Lovell Camps welcomes up to 200 children representing more than 20 different nationalities. Families have the choice to place their children in boarding camp or to send them as day campers.

Boarding Campers

The junior and senior campers are housed in the Lovell Camps Mountain Lodge which accommodates up to 50 boarders. Each room is dormitory style with ensuite bathroom. Sleepaway campers are welcomed to our programs from Sunday - Saturday each weekly session, staying a minimum of 2 weeks at overnight camp.

Bedrooms are shared with between 2 - 6 children so everyone can feel comfortable in safe company. A room counsellor is assigned to each room to provide special care and attention to our campers and to ensure that daily hygiene and cleaning routines are maintained.

Our boarding campers are excited to participate in special, fun evening and weekend activities that our day campers do not take part in.

Day Campers

There are usually between 20 and 40 day students aged 6 to 15 who attend camp on Mondays to Fridays from 08:40 until 17:15.

Just as boarding campers have room counsellors to form a special connection with, so do day campers with their day counsellors. These welcoming, attentive staff will accompany their group at arrivals and departure to make sure they feel great at camp and have everything they need each day.

Please be advised that our summer camp program consists of 2 three-week sessions which are carefully designed to provide a unique and well balanced summer experience for each individual to receive sufficient instruction, guidance and coaching in the many diverse lessons, activities and excursions on offer. Only campers that attend for a minimum of three weeks will be eligible for our award programs.Since new campers generally need 2-4 days to become fully integrated into the camp community, shorter sessions barely provides time to fully appreciate the camp community and its role models. We thoroughly recommend choosing three-week sessions, to get the most out of our programs.

Fees include:
all lessons and programs, supplies, equipment, excursions, room and board (boarders), lunches (day students), and a camp t-shirt.

Not included:
are tennis, horse riding, golf, baseball hats, transportation to and from camp, pocket money, medical insurance, German language lessons and personal expenses. We ask for a non-refundable registration and extras deposit of CHF 100.00/week for boarders and CHF 50.00/week for day campers. The registration/deposit fee is used toward pocket money, administration expenses and special programs.
